Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho each netted a brace as Borussia Dortmund overcame a second-half resurgence from RB Leipzig to triumph 4-1 in a downpouring encounter. Despite the decisive margin, the match unfolded in a less lopsided fashion than the final score suggests.
Dortmund opened the scoring early with Marco Reus finding the back of the net in the seventh minute. Jadon Sancho extended the advantage in the 51st minute, seemingly putting the match beyond Leipzig's reach. However, Leipzig mounted a spirited fightback with Alexander Sørloth halving the deficit in the 60th minute.
As the rain intensified, so did the intensity of the contest. Nonetheless, Dortmund proved too strong and regained their two-goal cushion when Sancho netted his second in the 87th minute. Haaland then sealed the deal in stoppage time with a clinical finish, securing Dortmund's victory.
